Do you have a dream? Do you know the power of a plan?
For over fifteen years now each year I set aside time creating my plan and putting form to my hopes for the coming year. Initially, it was a vision board. Over time, it became more complex and as I saw evidence of the value of my plan through greater success in every area of my life I designed it to be more explicit and detailed.
For years I noted my hope of becoming a writer specifically writing a book. When the opportunity came to me I knew it was time and I took a risk, and stepped in even though it did not arrive in the form I had concluded I wanted.
It all began when I attended a Women in Business and Leadership conference and met Gail Vaz Oxlade an author of a number of books on money. As we were chatting I shared some of my lifestyle restrictions around money. She replied in her direct manner "There is always a way Maureen, you just have to look more closely." I walked away disgruntled from our conversation thinking, she just doesn't get it. Never the less I knew before long she had put a bee in my money bonnet. I immediately began to look with even more scrutiny at my money and gained great success from that mentoring moment.
I was later to see another purpose for the universe converging with us. In the following year Gail put out a request for bloggers. We were to submit an article which focused on money or finances. To my surprise I was chosen to write for Gail's "Other Voices."
For the next ten months I wrote a weekly blog which helped to develop my voice and launched me as a serious writer. To practice putting myself out in the greater world, overcoming a fear and expressing myself in this medium.
While this was not my defined plan, the universe colluded and proved to me the plan made my vision more concrete, more bold, more courageous.
Five years ago I created templates to make my plan quicker and easier. Four years ago my Inner circle clients got on board and every year since I take a small group of determined woman through the process and now get to experience their joy as they step into their dreams and plans.
It all began so long ago with some scissors, some paste and a hopeful vision, turned into a plan.
Do you have a dream? Got a plan? Will you launch yourself into action now?
Dreams do come true.. Give it a try what have you got to lose....but a dream.
